We came to L.A. to make magic and strike gold. Housed in a former Owl Drugs pharmacy (complete with original signage and a mural by L.A. artist @abelmac, our L.A. agency outpost shares space with our recently opened Owl Bureau, bringing Chandelier’s unique brand of electric energy and devotion to design to Highland Park. Owl Bureau is a new kind of creative incubator and community space: a cultural beacon in East L.A. where clients can convene with our team, creative instigators can tap into inspiration, and book lovers can browse with abandon.
“A visually stimulating, curvilinear design feast.”
L.A. Times, March 19, 2019
Designed in collaboration with Paris-based architects Studio KO (which also designed our nearby Flamingo Estate), Owl Bureau is a shrine to art, fashion, architecture, and design. Behind the custom-carved wooden door and curved gallery wall (handcrafted in California oak by L.A.’s own Waka Waka and Machinehistories), you’ll find more than 200 books hand-selected from founder Richard Christiansen’s personal collection, plus nearly 2,000 additional new and vintage books and magazines curated by Mast Books (with the latest issue of French Vogue always in ready supply). The bookstore plays host to our artist-in-residence program and monthly guest series, with rotating exhibitions, book and magazine launches, as well as signings and readings. A portion of all proceeds go to local community creative projects.
Chandelier L.A. is about progress. We’re creating a space for defiance, activism, and game-changing ideas. The team is growing as we build our roster of local talent, independent radicals, and young organizations. Want to join us?
